Lovely stay

8.0

Lovely host. Nice kitchen with fridge and small freezer. Lots of space. Big driveway. Pretty single glazing. Wood and firelighters available (but did not use). Lots of lovely sun entering house. Convienient to check in and check out. Beautiful pear and apple trees. Well stocked for cooking ingredients and seasoning. Good quality shampoo and shower gel. Lovely power shower. Interesting looking toilet basin high up. Lights in the driveway and by front door. Lovely portraits on walls. Lots of radiators.

The bedroom closest to stairs was very bright once sun came up (5am) during summer. The blinds did not block sun in this room only. Did not get around to draping blankets over blinds to block light. Perhaps easily solved by using eye masks. The other neighbours staying in the 2nd part of the house were very quiet. We heard them briefly through the hole in the locked connecting door, but did not otherwise hear them. We would have preferred if the door nearest to this door could have been locked from our end for peace of mind at night. We also would have preferred for the gaps in the connecting door to be closed off if possible. We put some chairs and other objects behind the door for peace of mind.

Cosy cottage, full of charm and character set in the peaceful Norfolk countryside.

8.0

We liked the quiet, rural location in the Norfolk countryside and the four good sized bedrooms. The kitchen was fairly well equipped, clean and everything worked. The two shower rooms and large bathrooms were also all clean. There was plenty of parking on the gravel driveway. The house has plenty of character and the gardens were lovely. Unfortunately, it was raining for a lot of our stay, so we didn't get to enjoy the gardens as much as we might have liked but it was beautiful to look at and really relaxing. There was plenty of interesting art on the walls and lots of original features. We really enjoyed staying here.

The living space is quite small for a property that is supposed to take up to 7 people. It was fairly cosy with 5 adults, which suited our needs, but I think 7 would have been a squeeze. Some of the paintwork in the house and the enamel in the bath needs refreshing and the stairs are quite uneven and creaky, but that is to be expected with a period property. There are a few things that need a little maintenance, which we reported to the owners, but if there was one thing that I would change it is that the sign on the gate post is very small and hard to read from the road.
