Great location, spacious apartment and good value for London – with a few inconveniences

We really loved the location! There are several bus stops just outside, with buses going to different parts of London, and two major Tube lines practically across the street. There’s also a Lidl nearby, which was great for affordable grocery shopping. The apartment itself was spacious, warm and had almost everything we needed. The heating worked really well, and even when it was cold outside, we felt lovely and cosy. The TV had plenty of local channels, so we enjoyed discovering some interesting British series and shows in the evenings. Having stayed in London before, we know how difficult it can be to find reasonably priced, spacious accommodation, so we came with realistic expectations. And actually, the apartment turned out to be better than we expected! Despite the little issues, we had a very comfortable stay. The location was fantastic, the apartment had plenty of room for all of us, and it suited our group really well. I would happily stay here again when travelling with my teenage relatives.

− The building is quite old, and the carpets in the corridors have an unpleasant smell. Finding the apartment was also a little adventure, as the corridors are something of a maze! We had originally booked Flat 1 but were given Flat 4 instead. It looked the same as the one we had booked, so we didn’t mind. There were a few practical inconveniences, though. The biggest one was the washing machine, which didn’t work. Travelling with two young teenage boys, we really needed it! Unfortunately, we had already put our clothes in before discovering the problem, and they came out wet and smelling of stale water. We ended up washing everything by hand in the bathtub. The owner kindly offered to arrange laundry for us, but by then we had already dealt with the situation. The apartment was also missing quite a few basic supplies: no cooking oil, salt, pepper, shampoo, shower gel, conditioner, washing powder or dishwashing liquid. There were only three rolls of toilet paper for four people staying a week. There were no wine glasses or bottle opener either. None of these things is a major problem individually, but together they make a difference, especially for a longer stay. We also had only three duvets for four people. This might be perfectly fine for couples, but we were not travelling as couples and each wanted our own duvet. We eventually received an extra one halfway through our stay. The sofa bed hadn’t been made up before arrival, and there was no bedding ready for the fourth person. However, the cleaner came quite quickly to sort that out. Communication with the owner was a little inconsistent. Whenever she replied, she was very kind and helpful, but on one occasion I had to wait several days and send two reminders before getting a response. The building does shake slightly when trains pass, although we didn’t find this particularly disturbing.

I really liked the location - right in front of the metro. The place was super clean and easy to get to. Quick check in. Lots of space. 2 showers for 2 bedrooms.

− There is the pub on the ground floor of the building hence the noise in the background until late. The pressure in the shower is very low. It's fairly pricey too. The wardrobe in the smaller bedroom was shaky.

Prima voor een kort verblijf, je bent weinig in het appartement, maar aan luxe niks te over.

De ruimtes waren groot, de slaapkamers prima. De bedden waren goed. Keuken en badkamer voorzien van de nodige faciliteiten. De ligging tov bereikbaarheid met metro heel goed. Supermarkt aan de overkant 24 uur open.

− Er was weinig sfeer of gezelligheid in het appartement, erg kaal.. uitzicht naar buiten was deprimerend. We hebben de gordijnen maar dicht gedaan. Tv werkte niet.. douchen in de badkuip met een lage kop. Voor lange mensen heel lastig. Ingang voordeur en trap met tapijt naar appartement waren ranzig.
