10.0The property was better than expected, it was magnificent and in a magnificent location in every aspect. Out host Antonio was superb, very friendly and very helpful. We had the apartment with a garden view, but did not expect the bonus of having access to a shared terrace area over looking the Grand Canal. What a treat !! We spent blissful mornings eating fresh baked croissants from the local baker shop while drinking our coffee overlooking the Grand Canal. The sunsets were spectacular from the terrace too, while watching daily life wind down on the Canal over a glass of wine. The apartment is literally a 5 minute walk from the San Marcuola Casino vaporetto stop, where you can hop on an ACTV water bus and exit at anyone of the many vaporetto stops up and down the Grand Canal. Perfect for getting around Venice. If you want to walk rather than use the vaporetto service then the apartment is only a 20-25 minute walk to Rialto, and a further 10 mins to San Marco square. The apartment is in the Cannaregio district and away from the heavy touristy areas, and has a much more local vibe to it. There are many excellent affordable restaurants within 5-10 min walk, and plenty of Osteria's where the locals eat and drink. As I mentioned earlier there are numerous local bakery shops selling freshly baked pastries and coffee early in the morning. Again, these establishments are bustling with locals on their way to work.
