Absolutely stunning but….

We stayed at this gorgeous residence in Varenna, set in the hills above the town and accessed by a winding road. The view from the property is absolutely stunning and exactly as described – the terrace is the highlight and made our stay very special. The apartment itself is simple but comfortable, with everything you need for a pleasant stay. Access was a little tricky at first as the host provided details late (we’ve passed along some feedback that will make this easier for future guests). To reach the town, you can drive, though parking in Varenna is very limited. We mostly walked down the cobblestone path, which is fine in the dry but a bit more challenging in the wet. Walking back up after a long day (or after dinner and drinks!) is good exercise but can be challenging , though there’s also a free shuttle from the train station after 7 p.m. Varenna itself is lovely, and Lake Como is simply a brilliant destination. We had an awesome time here and would happily recommend this property, just with the note that access may not suit everyone.

Fantastisk udsigt - endda vest vendt, så man kan se solnedgangen. Terrasse med smukke planter. Lejligheden havde alt vi havde brug for. Ligger tæt på Varenna, som er den fineste lille by. Super sød vært.

− Der er lidt lydt, så hvis de der bliver snakket på de andre terrasser eller altaner hører man det tydeligt.

Great apartment. A lot of steps to get down to Varenna - so do not book if you don't like steps!

− A video guide of how to get to the car park from via Calla Basa would be helpful for future guests.

Apartment is beautiful, well-furnished, spectacular view, nice pool, clean, plenty of parking, helpful host. Great if you have a car and a mild sense of adventure. Wouldn't recommend for one night, but for a longer stay was most enjoyable. Buy your groceries before you arrive. For sightseeing, drive down early and park at Varenna train station (you can see the lot from the patio).

− Not close to town. Tricky to get to, up the hill and narrow roads. Long walk and stairs from parking to apartment. A few quirks - power went out and had to reset breaker, trash disposal instructions were outdated, washer tricky to figure out. I didn't mind, but a less handy person might have been annoyed.
