Disappointing,disinterested , misleading and unsafe
6.0After a month in New Zealand it was again convenient to stay for a longer 4 night stay in self contained accommodation with great cooking facilities and a washing machine. The pantry was well stocked with food items and on our second day a package arrived with some fruit and milk. We could walk into Wellington CBD therefore we didn’t need a car. It was great to see that the small balcony off the kitchen that has been out of bounds for quite some time has been recently fixed but a set of outside chairs mean you could appreciate the view.
− I always spend considerable time researching properties and read reviews and ratings. Although I had read some reviews that offered constructive criticism of things that could be improved I was hopeful that many of these annoying things that were not up to standard may have been addressed. This was unfortunately not the case. It is disappointing that many of my criticisms and safety concerns have been raised before by others. Firstly the apartment’s listing on Booking.com is misleading. It states that it is air conditioned. It isn’t and I suspect that in summer it would be stifling and in colder weather it was cold, with no conceivable way of heating the bedroom due to its compact size and position within the apartment. The listing shows a double storey house but states it is the upstairs apartment. Correct but there are some 25 photos of two different apartments . One is the downstairs accommodation which is much superior in room flow , space and renovation. BEWARE! Secondly , as stated in many reviews the bedroom is tiny and the bed takes up nearly the whole room . To get to the bathroom during the night I literally had to climb over my husband to avoid bruising my shins on the wooden bed frame. I’m a petite framed fit 62 year old! What the advertised photos don’t show is that you must walk through the bathroom / laundry to get into the tiny bedroom but there are two very steep stairs down into the bedroom - no safety handrail. DANGEROUS AT NIGHT ! We left the bathroom light on all night because we were frightened of slipping going up and down those stairs . We are used to stairs , living in a 4 storey Victorian terrace house but nothing prepared us for these. The stairs from the entry door are STEEP . Again I had read reviews so we were prepared that getting luggage upstairs wouldn’t be easy. It wasn’t but once upstairs there was no safety railing on the lounge room level to help hold on when going down these stairs.
Relaxing lovely place to stay.
10.0It has a very home like feel. All the extra provided things like pantry items, toiletries and clothes washing facilities are much appreciated.
− I think the far window beside the bed needs changing or double glazing, the blind blows around in the wind even though it’s closed, obviously some gaps, and might make the room a bit cold in winter. This is just little thing. We were also confused with streaming, as Netflix worked last time. Again not a biggy. We loved staying and it was our second time.
