8.0The quietness and hot tub. Atmosphere was great. Qaint cottage.
− Were too many flies at one stage but probably due to rain.
We absolutely loved this architecturally inspiring place in nature and look forward to returning.
9.0We loved the architecture!
− The open fireplace doesn't draw or warm very well. One has to burn a lot of wood for just a bit of warmth. A cast-iron upgrade would improve this.
Beautiful farm stay with kids and dogs
10.0We loved our stay. The host was very accommodating and made sure we had all we needed for our young kids sleeping arrangements. The hot tub under the stars was amazing. The kids and dogs loved the freedom of walking around the olive groves. Lovely place!
− Everything was great, no complaints.
Peaceful, nature hike, mountain landscape views
10.0The mountain views are amazing. We loved the fynbos and views with the mountain hike. So close to nature! Watching and listening to birds singing, as well as the flowing water of the natural pool is so calming and refreshing.
A Whimsical, Warm Retreat (and Cat-Approved!)
10.0The "Flintstone-esque" architecture and the charming "Liewe Heksie Hoedjie" lampshade embrace you like a warm blanket the moment you walk in. The first "wow" moment? A Nespresso machine with pods—saving me from hauling my own machine in from the car! Arriving on a cold, rainy day could have been dreary, but the host had a fireplace ready with two bags of wood. Matches? No? The basket with all the handy stuff like fire lighters, mosquito artillery, candles, scrubbing sponge etc. kicked out the matches, but luckily I brought my own and left it in said basket for the next guest. Once the fire was crackling, the cozy warmth, paired with a glass of wine, created the perfect "happy buzz." My cat, Sera, was less impressed with the travel arrangements (she’s currently considering a divorce), but the hosts, Leon and his wife, was incredibly thoughtful, checking in on her welfare. The kitchen is minimalist but thoughtful. I forgot my spices in the car, but found salt, pepper, and a bowl of fresh lemons from the garden—perfect for a quick steak. Between the sunken tub, spring fed pool, hot tub, sun-drenched stoepie and the goose-down pillows, it is impossible not to relax. When unforeseen circumstances required me to extend my stay, Leon handled the request with effortless grace, settling everything within the hour. All interactions were done with messages - no physical contact - which I find a considerate approach towards guests, especially when they are introverted. If you are looking for a place with character, soul, and a host who truly cares, you will not go wrong here.
− No dislikes.
I had high expectations as I have hear a lot about this location and felt a bit underwhelmed by it
6.0i thought the view / outside was very nice - the bed was comfortable and clean
− I felt that the interior is a little bit more "shabby" than chic - furniture ect felt old / almost as if it needs a bit of a makeover - did not sleep well as throughout the night we heard something in the ceiling - could have been a mouse / made a noise most of the night.
