9.0I needed a breather after being in the busy Cartagena, so I found this awesome hiding spot on the road between Cartagena and Barranquilla. The host was very helpful when I tried to figure out how to get to the village (easier if you move around with your own car/moto), so at the end I got there easily by taking a bus to Loma de Arena and then asking someone to take me the rest of the way (10 min) with a bike. Getting there is the sketchiest part, but it's all worth it! The staff at Galerazambahostal is super nice and I wish I knew a little bit more Spanish to be able to communicate better, but I got the feeling that they're happy to receive visitors :) There is a restaurant close by, but I didn't go there because you can get breakfast, lunch and dinner cooked by the staff for extra price, everything was delicious! I came here expecting a relaxing day and that's exactly what I got. Not much to do in the town, but there is one bar, a beach and a tourist office offering walks in nature and more (I didn't use this so can't say more) and they can also help you if you have questions about the area. Also the staff helped me get a bike ride back to the main road to catch a bus to continue my travels Overall a very great experience, will definitely come back if I happen to travel around here again :)
− It did get a bit too hot in the room. Of course it's mainly because of the climate in this part of the country, but better fans would make this a 10/10 for me. And also they only had light in the bathroom, so make sure you have a flashlight/lantern if you need to see when it's dark outside. Again, not the hostels fault, but I wish the beach was cleaner, there's quite a lot of trash and pieces of wood on the otherwise very nice sand beach.

− Definitely needs improvements as the weather is harsh. Steps to room, hole in mosquito net on 1 window, shower is a rubber hose stuck to wall and no shower curtain to stop water wetting floor outside shower. Kitchen needs upkeep. The price is high considering the condition
