Runa guest house was situated in a remote location which was great! The roads were quiet, not many houses nearby so very peaceful location which allowed us some good nights sleep. Although remote it was close by car to a lot of nice places to visit. The host came to talk to us in our first night. He was kind and very knowledgeable of the area providing us with details of places to visit. The 1 bedroom apartment was very clean, it provided everything we needed. It had cooking facilities and laundry facilities which was a bonus. Overall a very good stay. I would reccomend.

We must like it; this was our second visit. The house stands alone in a beautiful rural location, nice views nd very quiet. The flats ( apartments) are on the upper floor. It is spacious with a proper fully equipped kitchen, and a good sized bathroom. Very liveable for longer periods unlike some of the "studios" you see advertised which are actually bedsits. Rob the host although kind and generous is completely unobtrusive. Free and unrestricted use of a large modern washing machine and dryer is a bonus. Safe parking and zero crime worries.

− Banging my bonce occasionally on the sloping ceilings,( the flats partly occupy the roof space) We learned how not to bang our heads by the time we left., only a minor niggle and we would definately stay again.

Expectations exceeded! Could not have been more perfect.

Rob was a fantastic host—warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind throughout our stay. The suite was spotless, beautifully maintained, and had everything we needed for a comfortable visit. The location could not have been better for exploring Orkney’s most iconic attractions, including the Ring of Brodgar, Skara Brae, Maeshowe, the Standing Stones of Stenness, the Brough of Birsay, and the breathtaking Yesnaby Cliffs. It truly offers the perfect balance: centrally located for sightseeing while still providing the peace, quiet, and beauty of the surrounding countryside. Rob’s communication was exceptional from start to finish. He responded quickly to every question, provided clear and helpful information, and made the entire experience seamless and stress-free. I would highly recommend staying here to anyone visiting Orkney and would gladly return in the future. Thank you Rob for making our stay in Orkney absolutely perfect! Spacious top floor apartment in a home close to the west coast of the main island. A short drive to Marwick Head, Birsay, and Skara Brae.

− The second bed, a futon, was rated "not so comfortable", by my teenagers.

Unkempt, untidy, unclean, tired.
