8.0Mr Goto is old man of 87 but his heart is very young . Also he is very kind person. As the place has not public transportation Hodrove me to everywhere. I am very great full to treat me like friend. We promised to keep contact in the future.

10.0I had a lovely time staying here. I only wish I had planned to stay longer. The host is extremely kind and even offered to show me around, which I was very grateful for as I didn't have a car. He also made sure that I had the right directions for my excursions and takes very good care of his guests. I highly, highly recommend this place. I hope I can stay there again someday!

10.0My familiy and I had an unforgettable stay at "Shallman". We can totally recommend this acommodation when you come to amazing Amami-Oshima. The host is super kind and helpful. He actually isn't just a host, but a tour-guide and caregiver all in one. The house is approximately 20 minutes drive from Naze port and Amami main town. It's located in a charming village. There is a nice souvenir shop and another tiny shop. You can find two beautiful beaches in walking distance, around 20 and 30 minutes each. We even saw sea turtles there! Of course, it's nature, so there is no guarantee, but a little chance to see them. Another attraction is the Mangrove Park nearby. In the accomodation you have a room and a toilet on your own, and share bathroom and kitchen with the host. This makes the stay a unique experience as it opens the door for interesting converstions. Thanks to the host we felt as comfortable as at home or more precisely as at the house of a lovely relative. He helped out with everything and cared a lot when one of us got ill. We reached the island by ferry (11 hours at night, with beds) from Kagoshima port. We didn´t have a rental car and still had a wonderful time. It can be helpful though to buy some food in advance, either in a supermarket in Kagoshima or in Naze /Amami main town.
