A wonderful place to experience the real Transylvania, its people and its food.
10.0From the first smiling welcome to our last breakfast, we had a truly wonderful stay at Critz Cross. The farm complex has been beautifully and sensitively restored, and our room had the delight of a glazed verandah to sit in, overlooking the courtyard and the country beyond. We had the luck to be staying for 12 nights, and the food - grown mostly by our hosts and otherwise sourced locally - was beyond excellent, most especially their own cheese. It was the best of traditional Transylvanian fare, with imaginative twists which always hit the right spot (not forgetting each glass of palinka!). It was a perfect spot to relax, and we had the chance to explore the region at the right pace as we got to know some fascinating places, helped enormously by the generosity of our hosts' advice and gentle recommendations. The only possible downside would be that if too many people get to know quite how good Critz Cross is, then it would lose its delightful character!
