Brilliant location and great rooms right next to the connecting station that will get you to Murren. If you are looking for a place to stay here I would definitely recommend the Eiger Guesthouse and they are dog friendly for those travelling with their lucky pups.

− Murren is described as a car exempt village, but the amount of traffic going up and down the main street was surprising. Nothing to do with the hotel but worth keeping in mind.

The staff was nice and friendly. The restaurant patio section had gorgeous views and the hotel was conveniently located across from the train station.

− The breakfast grossed me out because there were hundreds of flies all over the breakfast and dining room. And all over the food. It was really gross. The bedroom windows opened up to a patio which felt like something could walk or crawl right into your room, but you had to have the windows open to get any air or the room was stifling. The toilet paper was very rough.

You really can't beat the location here. The hotel is right next to the train station, so coming and going was super easy, and everything in town is just a short walk away. The staff were very nice too. They even lent us a Swiss charging adapter during our stay, which was really helpful. The beds were really comfortable, the shower had good water pressure, and breakfast was great, with fresh pastries, yogurt, eggs, and a nice spread of meats and cheeses. We loved sitting out on the balcony with the mountain views.

− A few things to know before you book. There's no kettle in the rooms, though breakfast does start at 7am. The bigger issue for us was noise and heat. The hotel has no A/C, and it was very hot during our stay, so we had to sleep with the windows and balcony door open to let the fresh mountain air in. That meant we heard the train station workers arriving at 5:30 each morning to prep for the first 6am departure, and at night people would sit at the hotel restaurant below talking loudly until around midnight, well past closing time. We ended up sleeping with a sound machine. To be fair, with the windows closed the noise was dramatically less, so visiting during a cooler time of year would probably solve most of this. One last thing: the balcony on our side of the building was shared with two other rooms with no dividers between them, meaning someone from the other rooms could have easily walked right into our room at night while the door was open. That made us uneasy, but the heat didn't really give us a choice.
