Luxurious, historical, accommodation.
9.0It's a really 1st-class accommodation. There is a cluster of I think, three minkas each tastefully restored and upgraded. Ours was spotless and nicely set up with welcome treats and information. It was nice to have the whole place to ourselves to quietly enjoy. Also the neighborhood consists of mostly restored Edo-jidai houses and shops so you can do some sight-seeing right outside your front door.
− Not at all relating to the lodging but it seems like many stores and restaurants in Takaoka are closed during the first few days of the week. Plan accordingly.
A warm welcome, from strangers to friends.
10.0We LOVED Takaoka. Most tourists stay in Kanazawa but Takaoka is more conveniently located as a base for seeing the region, and it has all these amazing old trams and trains. Moto san was so helpful and kind, he was determined to make we were always happy and felt cared for - never steered us wrong on recommendations for dinner or experiences. The hotel is an architectural wonder and you're staying in the historic area near craft shops, little cafes, and bars.
− We were a bit sad that we just missed a festival. It looked like it was going to be a terrific time!
Beautiful house, wonderful stay!!
10.0First, I want to appreciate the check-in experience and how welcoming and nice the staff was. There was so much attention to detail from the minute I made the reservation. The house itself was tastefully designed, on a beautiful old street in Takaoka - we felt like we were in a movie set. Overall the neighborhood is very quiet so I would encourage booking a restaurant ahead of time - however our host was kind enough to call a restaurant for us and make a last minute reservation! We slept wonderfully, the beds were very comfortable (both futons and Western-style beds), and the house was well sound proofed from outside noise. We loved exploring the small shops around the house in the daytime, and head to the locally brewed local beer bar down the street.
− Everything was perfect!
Absolut Genial!
