Nice but missed opportunities

Food was good and staff friendly. Great wifi.

− Guides were friendly but not high level. One barely spoke a few worlds English and in general very little information was given about animals or nature. The only experienced guide went on leave the morning after my arrival. After having spend time in Anavilhanas lodge with their excellent, passionate guides there’s absolutely no comparison with Aymara. Activities are very limited. The boat trip is a waste of time because of vegetation and location of river. No horse riding, canoeing or cycling. The drives and walks were good but very limited information was given. I found an excellent 2 hour boat trip on a neighbouring property (Pousada Rio Claro) and this was actually the highlight of my Pantanal stay. I would recommend the Aymara owners to make a deal with Rio Clara to be able to offer this trip to their own guests. I would also recommend they spend a lot more time training the guides as this is obviously a management issue.

Fantastic Experience (especially as English speaking tourists)

Our guides, Caio and Otavio, were fantastic. Their English was excellent and their enthusiasm for the local flora and fauna was infectious. It's clear the staff at Aymara really care about the local wildlife and sharing it with tourists in a considerate and sustainable way. The food was also excellent, with the staff taking the time to stop and have a chat with us when they could (despite our poor attempts at speaking Portuguese!). The room was also regularly cleaed and felt very safe/secure. The Jaguar trip was one we will never forget - we saw six Jaguars in one day (although we were very lucky with the weather/conditions).

Quartos aconchegantes e limpos. Staff muito gentil, em especial a Débora e Luiz. Comida deliciosa e passeios incríveis. A experiência foi ótima!

Harmony between tourism and Nature

Our holidays wouldn’t have been so special if it wasn’t in Aymara Lodge. Everything is so unique and special, and fits in our dream of how the development of the tourism in Pantanal and in other wildlife areas in the world should be. The staff is absolutely fantastic. And saying that I want to also acknowledge the ones who we didn’t meet and worked to make this experience perfect. The Aymara team should be very proud of what they achieved. The meals were delicious. Real flavoursome Brazilian homemade style meals. I’ll be talking about that pacu for many years to come. The afternoon coffee and cake was a special treat. For a Brazilian who has been living abroad for more than 20 years, it really reaches deep in my soul. The tours in the property exceeded our expectations. Every tour comes with different experiences and they are never like the one before. I’ve learned so much and it made me so much in love with this ecosystem. We just wished we could have seen Macaw, the young jaguar that has been seen in the area.

− I wish I could have stayed for longer, but now we have an excuse to come back, maybe in a different season , and maybe meet Macaw
