The hotel is located in a lovely place and is well kept. The hosts are excellent as well and will kindly answer any of your questions and can show you the way to the most interesting activities (like mountain climbing).

Its super!!! I love everything about this place! Nature, peace, beautiful details, paintings, little signs, sound of birds, butterflies in the garden, beautiful view- exceptional! Warm welcome from the owner! Tea ceremony, and delicious food. I would love to come back!

Quiet and relaxing. But could also rent electric scooters for a little thrill.

Laid back village retreat, best find in China so far

Loved the laid back vibe of the village and the hotel. I was after a retreat from the city and that’s exactly what I got, didn’t want to leave! 老张 is very hospitable - always checking if you’re hungry and then will whip something up in the kitchen. Another guest that arrived said they wanted to hike some of the nearby hills so 老张 was like, ‘let’s go!’ and took us - the entrance is through someone else’s kitchen/back garden so we’d never have got access ourselves. He also mentioned he could take us to places to swim, climb etc. Really love the village atmosphere, everyone knows each other and knows the secret routes/best food spots. Reminded me of my rural village community in the UK. I was able to borrow 老张‘s road bike and cycled to the river to catch one of the rafts, it’s about a ~30min leisurely cycle to get there. There are cycle/foot paths along the river too, so another nice way to experience the scenery. The hotel itself is very quaint. I had one of the Japanese style single rooms and was very happy there, it looks exactly like the picture. They will pre-heat the bed for you in the colder months, nice touch! Water, tissues, towel etc all provided. The toilets and showers are just downstairs, a 10 second walk, and are very pleasant. The toilets are the Japanese ones with heated seats etc. The other helper is also lovely, and she packed my rucksack with fresh pomelo when I set off for my cycle excursion. They grow pomelo etc. beside the house, and also have chickens so eggs fresh too. Loved the rooftop, very zen and great view over the hills. They also have some friendly cats. Will 100% return.

− I was very happy with my stay. For other travellers, if you want to spend your time in Yangshuo, do note that it’s a ~30min cycle or maybe 5-10min cab (which isn’t very expensive). I personally was very happy to not be in Yangshuo, and very much enjoyed the village and nearby river etc. away from other tourists.

Zen Box Hostel is located in the beautiful village Jiuxian, close to Yangshuo, Chinas climber's paradise. I arrived and instantly loved the place. I took the simplest room, but it was perfect for me. I could also take a look at the bigger rooms, which are more comfortable. The rooms and bathrooms are really clean and welcoming and there is a rooftop to watch the stars. The couple who owns that place is really friendly and they are taking care of me in the best way I could imagine. Laozhang took me around for climbing and even lent me his bike for tours to Yangshuo, and the close villages along the river. I am really happy I chose this place :)
