A lovely location but...

The lakefront location is fabulous, with a lovely lakefront walk right at the front door and nice outdoor furniture. The location was super-quiet and peaceful and the neighbourhood felt safe and friendly. The kitchen was quite well set up with plenty of plates, saucepans, cups and utensils, although there is no dishwasher.

− Despite the beautiful, quiet location, it didn't feel worth the $300+ per night for two of us. The property was shabby and the garden areas poorly maintained - you have to dodge overgrown plants to get to the front door. The key box was jammed when we arrived and it seemed like we wouldn't be able to get in, the service people had no solution for us - a bit stressful after a long drive. There was a standup desk and computer monitor, which was a nice touch since I needed to work while i was there. Unfortunately the desk was broken and stuck at an awkward height (we fixed it), and the computer monitor did not work. The coffee pod machine did not work. There are no blinds or curtains on the lake side of the house where people walk past or the west side of the house where hot afternoon sun comes in. There was no hand soap in the bathroom. There are no insect screens on sliding doors so mosquitoes could come in and/or you have to keep the doors shut. At one point i heard rodents scuttling about in the roof. I didn't find out whether there was a laundry, which I would have appreciated for my long stay. There might be one in one of the locked outhouses/garages/workshops but i didn't feel like poking around there. If you're looking to bring a group, note that there are two bedrooms, which altogether sleep 5, plus a double futon couch in the living room. There is one bathroom.
