There was 30 chickens and 4 cockerels all free range and load’s and loads of chicken poop where you parked the car and round about house right up to the door had to watch where you was walking .inside cooker etc was not clean we had to use two set of dishes all week .we had to clean surfaces before cooking and all handles etc also it was not very warm we only got half dozen logs free and had to pay for more we did have central heating but it was on low boiler was in a lock cupboard .Also you could not sit outside.

A great place to stay in Wensleydale. Cottage well set up. Lots of chickens for company. Very helpful host on site (Jo)

All fine and not affected by the Yurts adjacent

Very disappointing.

Lovely views. Warm when the heating was on. Soft furnishings lovely. Lovely fresh towels. Decor good. Lovely Denby crockery. Some appliances were excellent (coffee machine and milk frother a bonus).

Chicken poo absolutely everywhere outside including in the private parking area and private garden. Couldn't fail to get it on your shoes and in the house, on the dogs paws, dogs ate it, got tummy upset and cost £66 at the local vet. No safe area to put the dogs out to go to the toilet. This was not explicit on booking. Cockerels endlessly crowing from 2am. We do live in a rural area and know that this is a feature of the countryside but the booking information did not make it clear at all that this was a farm surrounded by large numbers of poultry including multiple cockerels. The photographs and details given on Booking.com are very misleading. The photos are idealised and don't represent what one finds. They need to show the cottage in the context of the surrounds. No torches in the house. In the pitch black we had to walk down the track with the dogs at night by the light of an iphone as they couldn't be let out in the garden. There were no dishwasher tablets and it felt an inconvenience to ask to be given two. I booked this as a real treat and the site made it look really special. It certainly didn't match expectations for the price we paid of over £250 per night.

Great for chicken lovers

It was lovely with gorgeous views, and very spacious. Jo let us stay an extra day free of charge, and she also let us leave later than was stated.

We had no heating for the first three/four days because the heating broke, there was a log burner, but the shops we're closed so it was difficult to get logs and kindling, some was provided but we went through it really quickly. There isn't an enclosed garden for the dogs, there is a field you can use as long as the sheep aren't using it, there is also a lot of chickens just roaming around.
