10.0Meeting Gerald Butler, the Ireland Light, Lighthouse keeper himself. He has an amazing wealth of information and history. Gerald showed us around the house, and explained all amenities. He told us all about the house, his family, history, and gave us a tour and history of the Lighthouse. Watching the light beams go around at night right in front of us was Spectacular. The remains of a previous castle was beside the lighthouse.

10.0The location was amazing. Next door to the working lighthouse, the house had fantastic, far reaching views of glorious beaches and rugged headlands, with the inside being cosy and comfortable, and equipped with all mod-cons, except a TV and wi-fi, which we didn’t miss at all. The colourful, friendly town of Clonakilty is a short drive away, and we were spoilt for choice when it came to wonderful places to eat.
