I loved the post office lodge. It was so peaceful. I would happily stay there again. I felt like I was 'playing house'. It even has a garden.

My booking was mucked up. When I arrived at the Ines National Park office it was closed. I was unaware that it did not have normal office hours. I rang the after hours contact number (luckily on display). A ranger came and unlocked a key box. There was no key for me. He double checked my booking email to make sure I had the right date etc. He then went into the office and came back with a key, saying that it had been left in the wrong place. When I got to post office lodge, there was someone already there! I walked in on him! The lodge had been double booked!! I rang the after hours number again .... due to minimal phone coverage this meant that I had to stand in a hill, in the drizzling rain. It was very cold. Eventually a ranger was able to come out with a key for another lodge. I stayed in the alternate accommodation overnight and then was able to move into post office lodge the next morning. I was very disappointed re all the mucking around. Obviously, somewhere along the line, someone failed to follow the correct procedure. Double bookings should not happen.

Wildlife, walks, dramatic coastlines, the vast open sky and the sea… so good!

What a fabulous location! We stayed for three nights and would happily have stayed longer. Two of the three nights we had the whole town to ourselves. The building is heritage and rustic. It’s not fancy accommodation, but the location, the history, the isolation and the landscape make it an extraordinary place to be. Wildlife, walks, dramatic coastlines, the vast open sky and the sea… so good!
