Lovely cottage, close to the sea, needs to be updated to cater for the amount of people it can sleep

6.0

The cottage was lovely, it had a nice patio (although would be worth making clear it is shared/ goes directly onto other peoples properties. It was very clean and had a lot of old charm and a lovely history - so close to the beach as well.

The cottage was just not equipped for the amount of people it can sleep. There were not enough chairs in the lounge, people had to sit on the floor, the tv unit took up an enormous amount of limited space so it felt very cramped (I understand cottages are usually cosy but it was quite poorly laid out) and the kitchen equipment was pretty bad. There was barely enough spoons and forks for us to all eat dinner together, no suitable chopping boards and limited pans etc

Wonderful little cottage!

8.0

Location is great and the cottage had everything we needed for a long weekend. It's a beautiful little spot full of character with great views! Lots of books and games, a lovely little garden, and really easy to pop to and from the high street. The cottage was clean, had nice bedding and towels, and easy check in/checkout. We had a wonderful weekend!

There are some drawbacks that mostly come down to the cottage's age and location. For some people these will be absolutely fine but worth knowing about in advance!! To stress we enjoyed our weekend so these are just a heads up rather than list of complaints :) - The communal space is small for the number of people it fits. For a long weekend with beautiful weather it was fine as we were out most of the time, but for a rainy week it might be trickier! -The main bathroom doesn't have a shower (handheld in the tub), which makes showering rota a bit difficult. - One of the bedrooms is at the top of the landing area leading into the fourth bedroom, so not the most private. This is all fine with the right group of people, but just worth bearing in mind depending on your setup! - There's not really any soundproofing between internal walls/floors so easy to hear others up and about, as well as noise from the lane as the windows are single glazed. - Parking is expensive - £50 for three days or £100 a week at the nearest public lot.

Location made it good.

6.0

Location was excellent. We loved the history of the place.

Pictures were slightly deceptive as the single bed appeared to be in a separate room but was in fact in an area outside the double bedroom on the 2nd floor/attic area. Therefore, this property was not really suitable for three adults who wanted their own room as one adult had to sleep in a bunk bed in order to have a room which was totally separate. Also, there was an internal window in this room that looked out onto the stairs and this window did not have a window covering. The kitchen was outdated with the microwave being in a cupboard under the sink and there was not any work top space.

Great stay in a wonderful seaside town.

The old cottage had lots of charm and character and was well fitted, with all standard requirements well covered. The location was excellent for all of the many activities Lyme has to offer a family.

The blinds in the top bedrooms let in too much light.
