Traditional Bavaria… just as it should be.
9.0If we had wanted a boutique hotel near to shops and facilities we would have been disappointed. What we got instead was a traditional Bavarian house of quite an age and full of character. Furnishings were in keeping with the age and style of the house which added to the charm. Floors sloped in some of the upstairs rooms (you had to lock the wardrobe to keep the door closed!) but every window was double glazed. We had hoped for a genuine traditional Bavarian house and that’s exactly what we got. It seems a bit out of the way at first but the local town is only 10 minutes drive away with Lidl and Edeka etc. Links to other nearby towns were fine as we could join the good road network at the end of the road. Being Germany everything is well signposted. The host who lives just across the street was friendly and helpful. If you take a dog, take the advice and keep it on a lead. It’s a rural area, lots of tall grass and crops. Hunting is a pastime in this part of the world. Also most of the neighbours seem to have cats, no point in upsetting anyone during the stay.
− Being Bavaria during a humid spell the mosquitoes were out in force. Nothing the host could do about that but they had fitted mosquito screens to some windows which was useful. The host is obviously working hard on some of the upstairs rooms which felt a little unfinished. As we didn’t use them it really didn’t bother us though. Being an older property some may find the steep stairs challenging, again not an issue for us.
