Perfect little cabin for our week of hiking in the Grayson Highlands

8.0

Loved how close it was to Grayson Highlands! The porch was also perfect for drinking a coffee and reading a book!

There was a tub with a shower head on it, but it was hard to shower in the tub without it being on the wall. No qualms though because we knew that when we booked it. Great property all around.

This mountain oasis was thoughtfully designed and decorated. We immediately noticed the quality of the construction. We spent a lot of time outside on the porch, around the firepit, and inside by the fireplace. Check-in was easy, and the driveway was no trouble. Great spot for a girls' weekend getaway, or with more friends who stayed just 11 minutes away at Grayson Highlands State Park.

Not much to dislike here!

Renter beware! No refunds given if you can not make it to the cabin and do not want to walk.

The area is one of our favorite places to visit. We have rented many wonderful cabins and never had a problem before this trip.

Due to the state working on the road that day, our front wheel drive Honda CRV would not go thru the extremely thick, loose gravel because the road is so steep. We attempted several times and decided it was not worth tearing up our car for. When we first contacted the owner, he said we were only about 1000 feet from the cabin, but we could never see it from where we were. He suggested we could carry our luggage, coolers and everything else from there. Then he offered a parking solution that was a half mile down the mountain. Not an optimal solution for a couple of 60+ year old women, and who wants to trek a half mile up and down every time you wanted to leave the cabin. Since we had planned to ride the Creeper Trail and visit the VA Highlands SP, and not just stay at the cabin, we declined. He offered a refund and we thanked him and then had to find somewhere else to stay. Later, for reasons unknown to us, he declined to give us any part of a refund. He even kept the cleaning fee. So, unless you want to take the chance that you may or may not be able to get to his cabin, I would find somewhere else to stay. Especially since he doesn’t think the road his problem, apparently it is yours. When I read his description of the road, I thought in September it shouldn’t be a problem. But after reading other reviews, I saw where a couple from Germany also struggled to get up the road in August.
