Beautiful location, lovely walks, and a lovely place to unwind and chill
10.0Location was fantastic, extremely quiet, good base to visit both Devon and Cornwall. The cafe at the lake was only a five minute walk from the site, and was extremely popular at lunchtime!
− The only criticism was that the lodges are dog friendly, but unfortunately on walking round the site, and their are only 30 lodges at this site, none of them were safe to let your dog out in the rear gardens as their were some parts that were not fenced off i.e. the rear of the BBQ (but I saw no real reason that this could not be done even with health and safety issues regarding the BBQ as the fencing is wired) and also at the side entrance a picket gate could easily be installed. We were able to improvise and block the garden in !!!!
Nice location, accommodation slight room for improvement, we felt.
6.0The lodge is located close to Roadford Lake which has some lovely walking opportunities. The cafe at the lake has some nice food and ice creams. The closest shop for provisions is in Launceston.
− On arrival at the checking in time of 16.00 the cleaners were still in cleaning the lodge and it was not ready for us. We had to sit outside in the car for almost 1/2 hour. It felt that it had not been cleaned thoroughly and the mattress protector on the master bed was left on soiled. The middle twin room had a strong offensive odour, similar to cat’s urine and we were thankful that we didn’t have to use it. We did point this out to the owner who visited the next morning who was in agreement with the Smell and said that the carpet would be cleaned. We were left with virtually empty provided washing up and hand soap again perhaps these should have been replenished by the cleaning team. Some tea bags, but no coffee, which we thought strange, was in a complimentary basket along 4 scones, although a lodge for 6 people, some jam and cream. Nice for an afternoon tea, as long as you don’t want coffee. These are just a few niggles that we noted having stayed at similar accommodations where perhaps the extra mile was given.
