Not as advertised, wouldn’t stay again.

4.0

The location was quiet and fine, felt further from the city center than advertised. The beds were very squeaky and wobbly but otherwise comfortable. The floors are charming, but very slanted so you feel drunk when maneuvering the house.

The parking is not “free private parking” as advertised! Don’t be fooled by that. The host was entirely unhelpful and even somewhat belligerent when it came to sorting the parking, which again was not at all as advertised. You should never ask a client if they are “winding you up” when they don’t understand your puzzle of parking instructions. And if someone is not understanding the maze of instructions, rephrase it, answer their questions and don’t bark at them to “read above!”. The stairs are straight out of a nightmare! They are not only steep, slanting and narrow, they also have an odd effect of leaning backward. The banister is tiny and there really should be one on both sides, or better yet a rope from the ceiling to hang on to for dear life. The advert really should state the condition of the stairs. There were zero toiletries as far as body wash or shampoo. Odd thing to leave out of a vacation home. The towel in the kitchen looked like it hadn’t been laundered in 50 years, and there were no other towels or kitchen paper provided. There are what look to be pee spots on the sofa. We were three people but only two beds had bedding, to advertise 4 beds but only provide two is cheap and inexcusable. To assume two adults share a bed is stupid and wrong. There are two keys provided but only one works, for the front door, neither work for the back door. To get to the key box you must go down a creepy alley then battle a slew of cobwebs and weeds. Very unwelcoming. There was even a dead bird in the yard before the lockbox, directly in the path. There is no freezer. The shower is tiny with terrible water pressure. Mind your chin as you bend your sit on the toilet as the sink is immediately in front. The tea kettle needed a descaling a year ago, now it needs to be retired as it is simply one giant lime scale.

Very nice house, clean and presented well. Could have a little extra supplies and parking is a problem.

Size was good and it was decorated nicely Was clean and presented well Bathroom nice

Boiler in box room didn’t feel good Low supplies, 1 tea towel, no extra bin bags Run down lounge furniture Master bed extremely noisy needs a new frame Poor parking details ‘30 seconds from house’ not helpful, needs an address and parking instructions such as cost and how to enter

Great location, pretty street, house was clean and generally well-equipped. Initially good communication with host, she was helpful when we needed advice on parking.

The guest book and pre check-in info needs updating, as both RCP carparks mentioned seemed to have permanently closed, so we struggled with parking and ended up having to move the car a lot which was unnecessary stress for a weekend away. The double bed is extremely squeaky which kept us awake a bit! Unfortunately the boiler was broken so we were left without hot water which was inconvenient for a family with kids. Luckily the shower is electric, however very leaky and therefore very low water pressure. The host did not respond to our message about broken boiler (and still has not) despite us contacting her mid-stay, so we were stuck with the situation. There was only one toilet roll provided as we discovered first thing in the morning - there were no extras in the places stated in the guest book which was frustrating to say the least! Overall great location but felt like little thought/effort has gone into comfort levels of guests, with attention to detail and communication lacking.

On the face of it the house look good but we ha a number issues which we reported and went unresolved.

The house was clean and well located for a walk into town

The mattress fell in on day 1, the sink plug wouldn’t pop up in the bathroom. The shower was tiny and had no water pressure and on our last there was no hot water and that meant no heating.

Comfortable with. Good character

Should rename it City Terrace, as certainly not a Pad, steep stairs and downstairs bathroom make it a bit impractical for the elderly
