Great location, comfy cottage, but in need of some severe maintenance and TLC.
6.0It is a very charming cottage in a fantastic location, tastefully decorated, and with lots of great features. Well equipped kitchen, and a lovely garden. The beds were super comfortable, the wifi good, and the supplied towels and bedding all of good quality. Both the local pubs are friendly and welcoming, and the village community shop is well worth a visit - with fantastic local breads and cheeses.
− The cottage was clearly renovated nearly a decade ago, and it's all beginning to show its age a bit. Peeling paint in the kitchen and dining room, plaster coming off the wall in the top bedroom, and a bit grubby around the edges. When we arrived the kitchen sink was blocked (soon sorted with a plunger and ten minutes enthusiastic action), and the dishwasher drain was also blocked and the machine full of dirty water. It did drain eventually - all over the kitchen floor. The handrail to the second floor stair is very loose, and reviews indicate it has been like this for a good long while. No ventilation in the bathroom and the window won't open, making for an overall damp time. Obviously a damp time in the Peak District is nothing new, but I generally like to keep that outside. Parking can also be an issue, with lots of people using the lane to park in. I sadly have to say that cleanliness also wasn't great throughout. Lots of cobwebs, and the kitchen floor very clearly hadn't been swept or vacuumed in a while. The house, whilst lovely, very clearly needs some serious TLC.
Excellent location
8.0Very cosy and beautiful property
− Parking was little tight and even on main road was busy
A must stay
10.0The house has exceeded all expectations! Pictures don't actually do justice to this wonderful place. The house is very spacious, has 2 fireplaces, 2 living rooms. Kitchen is big and has everything you would need. Beds are comfortable, plenty of games and books to read and relax after a long walk. Highly recommend and will be returning!
− There is only one shower so in case you have 6 people staying there might be a wait but that didn't bother us.
Seriously considering staying here again.
10.0The cottage was beautifully furnished and very well equipped. It was quirky in its style but also felt quite luxurious. Bathroom was immaculate. Good, quiet location for us.
− There was nothing that we didn't like.
