Comfort and space in a traditional Japanese home
8.0We loved the space and traditional feel of this house. It was easy to spread out and relax on comfortable tatami mats after a day of walking! A supermarket, shops and restaurants are all nearby - we recommend Otas Cafe for coffee and breakfast. The beautiful Kenrokuen Gardens are a 15-20 minute walk away, so the house is well-located for tourists. Note that you need to visit an office nearby the train station for check-in and keys.
− The TV needs upgrading to allow for streaming of apps! Currently, the TV only allows for standard Japanese channels. The stairs to the first floor are quite steep and could be an issue for guests with mobility issues. Also, the house would benefit from a washing machine (a pretty standard feature for a property of this size).
Good location but unwelcoming and would not recommend it.
4.0A spacious apartment in a good location and with comfortable mattresses.
− The property was not well maintained. The stairs were abrupt and easy to slide and fall. Too many rules in a quite aggressive language. For extra towels we had to pay extra. There were extra pillows in the apartment but we were only allowed to use one pillow per guest and one futon per guest. Whatever we used we had to put it back in place and arrange the things as we had found them. Clean up everything so next guests to find them clean as if there was no cleaning staff. Overall, we felt uncomfortable and that we paid for just sleeping. The overall experience didn’t feel like being on vacation but that we were sharing the household duties. The philosophy that they are trying to promote is that we invite friends and thus we share the chores but we were customers and we paid for a service that we never received. In addition, the check-in was in a different building 15 mins away from the apartment and we had to drag our luggage from one place to the other without being informed about the distance. The check-out was at 10am but they would offer to keep our luggage from 12pm onwards so for 2 hours, hence we ended up paying a locker.

10.0-Spacious house with plenty of space including facilities that maked you feel like real Japanese -The property is very near Omicho Market, Kanazawa Castle, Oyama shrine and Kenrokuen Garden -Staffs are polite and able to communicate in English
− -It is quite far to walk to Kanazawa Station for many people (about 15 minutes) but for me it is acceptable -You need to check in at house agent office first to get a key therefore you can not go directly to the property
