Woodland Retreat May 2026
9.0We stayed 3 nights in May 2026. The site was quiet and clean. We didn't use any of the golfing facilities so cannot comment on them.
− Although technically the caravan slept 6 (1x double room + en suite, 1x 2 small single bedded room, plus a small double sofa bed in the lounge) all but the double bed were 'small' for 2 adults. Even though I booked - and advised the owner - for 3 adults and 2 children (14 & 11) there were only 4 chairs at the table, and not enough cutlery for all 5 of us, which is, sadly, the reason I've said "no, it did not meet my expectations " However the caravan was nicely decorated and homely/cosy. The shower was large and the water hot The outside amenities were good - picnic table, hot tub in a private space with 'garden' furniture for 'chilling'. I would book again - but not for 5!
Awful. Bearing in mind you can do a week abroad for the same price as this "luxury" stay.
2.0Good location
− Dirty, insect infested, run down, caravan. Certainly not the luxury 5* lodge their website describes. Massive hole in back of sofa, infested with beetles. I made them aware of this as soon as we arrived and didn't even get an apology we just got told the site had an infestation at the time. Old stuck on eyelashes on the fridge, many old shower gel bottles in bathroom. Mould and damp marks on walls and ceiling. Hot tub covered in algae and wouldn't heat above body temperature. Tv screen was purple no matter how it was set. Apparently the host didn't respond to any of these issues when reporting to booking.com If I could upload more photos I would.
Lovely stay cut short due to my son being unwell with his diabetes
9.0Kids loved the hot tub.
− Nothing
Not worth 200 pound per night
4.0Like perfect woods stay there all the time, so location nice, and hot tub
− No fault there own, but we had to be moved last minute from the one we originally booked and it was a caravan not a lodge it was dirty. Everything was covered in pet hair smelt of dog, bed not comfy smell of damp in one of bathrooms

9.0Perfect location as we were taking part in the Mighty Hike and it was a short drive to the start. The hot tub was a real bonus!
− Could have provided more kitchen cutlery - was limited
