Lovely quiet remote location but not far from the festival we were going to. It was clean and welcoming. Plenty of parking and secure front garden. Hot tub outside was the best I’ve been in as it was actually really hot unlike most hot tubs! Great for 7 adults as there are 3 doubles and 1 single. I believe there is a sofa bed but we didn’t try it and it’s downstairs. Open plan kitchen / dining was where we spent our time hanging out as there are enough seats for us. We self catered breakfast and found everything we needed. During our stay the electric gate malfunctioned but I informed the host and they had someone round quite fast to fix it. We lost a necklace and host was helpful in trying to find it for us after we had left. Overall for what we paid (£525 for 3 nights) in July we found that EXCELLENT value for money!

We loved the property but if I had to make some comments it’s that the lounge area where the TV is with sofas was small so nobody hung out there as it couldn’t fit us all, maybe 4 or 5 if you bring a chair in. Or more if you sit on the floor. So we hung out in the dining instead which for us was fine but you won’t get more than 4-5 watching TV at the same time if that’s important to you. The en-suite shower rain attachment didn’t seem to work and the knob was loose but the hand held worked fine. Couldn’t get a response from the host leading up to the stay, I had messaged a few times on booking.com asking a few questions. Whilst we were there I tried to call and number was dead. Can’t remember how I ended up getting hold of them in the end. However all important information was sent to me and it wasn’t really a problem, I’m an over asker anyway!

Location - nice countryside location, might feel a bit isolated in winter, but liked it in summer. Managed to walk to Bangor-on-Dee, but a lot of the OS labeled paths were blocked, so had to take a number of quiet country roads. Outside - well maintained lawn and drive. Pictures representative of the space. Secure for our dog. Kitchen / Dining area is a lovely, airy open space. Good cooking area. Was a comfortable communal space which we really enjoyed. Aga type stove was not on, but would not expect so in summer, don't known if it is used in winter. Plenty of pots and pans for cooking. Lots of water and wine glasses. Bedrooms - our group used two of the beds and both were comfortable. Non-feather bedding, which is my preference. On-suite is large and modern, with a big walk-in shower with good water pressure. Very clean throughout. Good supplies of loo roll, surface cleaner, dishwasher tablets etc. Would have liked some kitchen roll. Didn't use the hot tub, so cannot comment on it.

Unfortunately there were a multitude of little things that, on their own would have been a small frustration, but culminated in us just generally feeling quite annoyed. Most of these could be easily remedied. Communication was poor. I asked two questions through Booking.com, both of which were not responded to. Despite being sent a number of arrival and departure messages through the same medium (these were helpful and informative). It was weirdly deficient in cutlery for the expected number of guests, with an eclectic mix of old cheap items that didn't feel nice to use. (plates and bowls were fine). The chairs outside were rusted to the point that one didn't seem safe to sit on. The washing machine was out of order, but the sign on it didn't look very new, so not sure how long that has been out of order for. They could do with keeing an eye on the food that people leave in the cupboards when they leave. Some of it was two years out of date, which we threw away. The shower knob had become detached, so we could not turn on the rainfall showerhead. The bathroom towels were glorified hand towels (except there were a couple of big towels which we presumed were for use with the hot tub). One of the electrical sockets in the kitchen was very loose, and didn't feel safe to use. Could do with more bedside tables and lamps. One of the wardrobes was very rickety. The homemade bench could have been charming and rustic, but for the decision to finish it with composite off-cuts. In conclusion, what could be a really lovely rental is only average because of a lot of annoying minutiae, most of which could be resolved easily.
