A pretty place but check the layout is suitable for your party before booking!

5.0

The place is really lovely - tasteful decor and thoughtful touches to make the stay comfortable. Mousehole is a tiny and interesting little village, worth a day or two of exploring - a lovely tidal pool on the coastal walk for a refreshing dip, a local market and tiny shops and a handful interesting restaurants and pubs selling local ales and great fare.

My main criticism - which I'm finding more a culture of Cornwall's weariness of Summer tourists with an edge of intolerance - is that this house should be managed directly through Booking.com, rather than through the third party agency Luxury Coastal, who seem more interested in summer earnings than the wellbeing of their customers. The information about the layout of the house is not transparent on Booking.com and on discovering the day following the Booking (two months before the trip) from the Luxury Coastal confirmation (with a house plan) that the third bedroom has a steep spiral staircase with access to a toilet downstairs only (not recommended for elderley or children at night) AND that none of the beds could be made into twins, I emailed the agency to ask to clarify and cancel if this was the case as the party included two elderly grannies and two children and so was an unsuitable match! The only emphatic option I was given by Luxury Coastal was to post-pone the trip to another date, which is not possible since we live overseas. In addition to this, we were not sent the check-in lock box details and we had to phone the house managers from a UK phone box in the village late at night due to no mobile reception from the house. For those planning practically, you will not get parking near the house - although it's stated that you might - there are only three bays that are full at all times. You will need to park at the harbour and it so happens that the weekend we were there, a massive storm ensued and a wave came over the harbour wall, smashed the car window and the bonnet! A comedy of errors, if not a disaster right from the onset! A fine upstairs apartment for an adventurous and able-bodied and resilient-minded group, perhaps not for a family on a relaxing holiday with all the everyday family logistics to factor in.

A gorgeous property in a welcoming location.

Gorgeous interior with quality furnishings

There is a fundamental problem with the antique bed in the master room. The noise when you move wakes you up. A blind on the velux window would be beneficial and some window dressing on the opposite room for privacy and early morning wake up.
