Magical Scottish Stay
10.0Beautiful house in an amazing location! It was magical and the scenery was stunning. The property was spacious and welcoming and the garden area was fantastic, and great for dogs as it was enclosed. The beds were very comfortable and the facilities were excellent. The host was very friendly and helpful and there was a generous welcome package. I would highly recommend the place and hope we can return in the near future.
− It was all wonderful
Atmospheric accommodation in a beautiful location
10.0Excellent place to stay - very atmospheric, and the beautiful cemetery is basically your garden. Facilities as described, and check in was easy. We didn't meet the managers, but they were communicative and the information provided was easy to follow. In a good neighborhood with lots of shops, cafes, restaurants, bars etc, and walking distance/main bus route into the city centre.
− Nothing.
6 night stay at The Gatehouse Sheffield
8.0Location a green space in the city. Felt secure despite being a city short cur. Easy access to individual shops. Clean and comfortable accomodation. Heavy curtailing and blind for privacy and coolness and dark.
− The shower was too stiff to turn on. The old style lamps look the part but wiring from plug to base can be iffy. (I know coz) I own similar. One lamp very hard to turn on using switch. Second on chest in bedroom flashing unless you find exact spot for steady. Ineffective fan for heatwave. Sash windows difficult to lift and limited opening. Some of These can be understandable due to age. I would stay again despite this!

Alles ebenerdig.
A characterful property
7.0Beautiful location. We loved being able to go straight into the cemetery gardens. The dog loved it too. We also appreciated the proximity to Sharrowvale and Eccleshall roads and the Botanical Gardens. We loved the history of the place and the tiny garden was delightful.
− The house seemed a bit dark and musty when we first arrived but once we'd opened some windows and turned on the lights it felt much more welcoming. Our main issue was the shower - we couldn't turn it on! I had to ring for some assistance, but even after I knew how to turn it on, it was too stiff for me to turn. My husband (aged 82) did just manage it. Obviously space is at a premium but a small basic coffee -maker would have been very welcome.
Very characterful property with thoughtful period decor and antique furnishings, chess, books
9.0We had a very enjoyable couple of nights whilst visiting our student son nearby. It's different from the usual bland chain hotel experience. The location near the Eccleshall Road with all its independent shops and restaurants is perfect, and the cemetery itself is historically and architecturally interesting. Would happily stay again and recommend to others who like period properties and unique places to stay.
− The location is slightly edgy because people can access the cemetery at all hours of the day and night, and may even congregate right by the front door. The windows needed cleaning, and the toilet seat was a bit loose. We needed to pay for parking on the arrival and departure days (free permit supplied for the full day in between).
