Location and layout. Lovely wood burner too. Washing facilities and storage really greay

Only issue is if 2 people were showerung at once, then the pressure was really low, meaning you could really only use one at a time.

Autumn Stay

The location was brilliant with easy access to some of the best walks and views. It was dark when we arrived but lights and heating had been left on for us, a nice touch. The Old Post Office had everything we needed, plenty of space, warm and excellent parking, especially for the Lake District! A small thing but I also loved the full size bath towels, so many holiday lets have tiny bath towels. The Wainwrights Inn just a two minute walk away is friendly and inviting, dog and walker friendly. The shop is handy but closes at 5pm so if you are a little later arriving, take some fresh milk with you as none is left in the cottage, just a couple of little uht pots.

The upstairs bedrooms let it down as they smell damp and mouldy, a bottle of febreeze and a can of air freshener couldn't mask it. Unfortunate as everything else was great. I'd also just mention that the steps at the back are very slippery. Spent a whole day on greasy rocks in the mountains without issue but even my best boots couldn't cope with the steps and I went flying, no major injuries, just a bruise but they could do with a good scrub or a health warning.

Would probably return to the cottage and definitely the village.

Ideal location for walks from the doorstep. Cottage was well equipped. Worked well for a family of four.

It was cold and as the weather wasn't great the night storage heaters weren't up to the job.

There was quite a lot of dampness in the bedrooms which smelled and was mouldy.
