Lovely small hotel

10.0

Friendly welcome, nice large room with everything you need, good choices for breakfast and great location.

Only spending one night there and having to rush my breakfast to do the last 6 miles of the Wye Valley Walk and get a train home from Chepstow!

Amazing breakfast but hot loft room

6.0

Delicious and large breakfast, good location for walks

Our room was on the top floor and in the hot weather it was really hot and stuffy. There was one fan and they kindly provided another when requested but I was surprised it wasn't acknowledged when showing me the room/proactively offered and the blinds being left open when it was sunny on the window probably made it worse. We set up two fans but it was still 29 degrees in the room as we were going to sleep. The floorboards were also all very creaky and loud and it was a little restrictive that the latest breakfast time was 9am

Attentive hosts and lovely room but information a bit lacking

Owner was attentive and breakfast was great

Breakfast is too late for me. 8am means hanging around. I think 7:30 is more reasonable. Also, there wasn’t any signage about the bar usage and breakfast ordering was someone slapdash. We fancied a wine one night but couldn’t work out what the rules were so we gave up.

The selection of hot breakfasts (cooked to order) was varied and absolutely delicious. Lovely granolas, mueslis and cornflakes, accompanied fruit and amazing butter with bread to die for. As a coeliac, gluten-free options were no problem. Marta and Roger provided a sumptuous breakfast that set us up for the day. We had an evening meal day of arrival - which could have graced any top quality restaurants. Bed was so comfortable and the ensuite bathroom spacious. Cleanliness was of the highest standard. We visited during sweltering heat, but no problem as high-quality fan provided a comfortable night's sleep. So close to the River Wye - spent evenings watching birds swooping to catch insects. Even spotted an otter. 10-15 mins walk to village centre and the Folk Festival.

That we had to come home after 5 wonderful nights. If not a car user, be sure to check the buses (No 69 Chepstow/Monmouth) beforehand - there was a diversion when we stayed so going to Monmouth for a day was quite difficult. But not a Parva Farmhouse problem, just Newport Buses.
