An excellent getaway from the hustle and bustle of modern life.
8.0Peace and tranquillity. This delightful little cottage sits beside a small lake after a mile along a forest track. There are fish in the pond and deer in the woods, as well as squirrels, rabbits and other native wildlife. The location is perfect for touring the borders and the excellent broadband WiFi ensures you are not cut off from civilisation. The icing on the cake is the real, log burning fire, not for heat, but just for aesthetic pleasure. An excellent getaway from the hustle and bustle of modern life.

8.0Location was idyllic in the woods by a small lochan on the Carmichael Estate. Well situated for trips to both Glasgow and Edinburdh, whilst benefitting from tranquil and lovely setting. Loved the open fire and traditional bothy style.
− It was great for our purposes. A little tired and dated, though this did not matter to us.
Pond Cottage
7.0Quiet and cosy. Lovely location, perfect to explore the Central Belt and Borders. Farm shop has opened up after a refurb and is superb, worth a visit even if you are not staying here. We extended our stay for another two weeks as it ticked all the boxes. Open fire lovely in the soggy weather.
− Property would benefit from some gravel on the path as the Scottish weather turned it to mud. Could probably do with a refresh to the kitchen and bathroom but didn't worry us, everything worked at the end of the day.

8.0Great location in a peaceful place, a mile from the road in the woods. All facilities as described and once you've found the cottage (the directions are good) I found it just perfect. Very quite and plenty of places to walk around the woods. The roads around are all country roads but not that much traffic which was a bonus. Really enjoyed my stay.
