Fantastic Stay at Great Value Durham B & B

An outstanding B & B - clean, comfortable bed in nice, clean room which is serviced daily. Great en-suites with excellent hot shower - towels replaced daily. Very friendly and helpful staff. A great pub/bar downstairs with a wide selection of refreshments (alcoholic and soft drinks) - you are made 'very welcome' by the local punters. FANTASTIC VALUE FOR MONEY. I didn't take breakfast, but I know it is highly rated and priced very fairly. Supermarket, cash machine and hot food takeaways nearby - very handy - they don't interfere with The Shoes (no smells or noise.) Esso filling station close by - may have electric charging points? A great cafe is nearby at the Vane Tempest hall, 2 minutes walk away - opens about 8 a.m. Monday to Friday and serves super tea/coffee, scones, cakes, hot filled rolls, light meals and soft drinks. Although you can walk into the city centre in about 10-15 minutes, there is a regular, great value, bus service from a nearby bus stop.

− I can't fault anything - for me, it was ideal. Not in the city centre - but a great bus service gets you there and back in minutes. Rooms are upstairs and there is no lift.

The Shoes is the classic British inn experience - friendly greeting, easy check-in, room above the pub but no noise at all. Lovely, airy room with a comfortable bed and very good bathroom across the hall. The staff are wonderfully helpful and enjoy helping their guests make the most of their stay.

Quarto confortável e espaço Tudo bem limpinho O café da manhã é bem British tradicional. Gostoso mas bem gorduroso. A localização é boa. Vinte minutos caminhando até o centro da cidade

− Não me deixaram esquentar uma comida no microondas. Eu tinha acabado de sair do hospital e não tinha condições de sair pra comer fora

− Bathroom is outside of the room, although for private use, which is a bit inconvenient.
