We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Garden Room. Our hosts were courteous and thoughtful and did everything they could to make our stay comfortable. Breakfasts were varied, delicious and beautifully served.

We stayed two nights in this converted garage during a record-breaking heatwave, so the room was very warm, but our host Alastair did what he could to make it more comfortable. There was a fan in the room to circulate the air, and Alastair removed the duvet from its cover as soon as we arrived, so that we could sleep under just the cover. There was a good selection of tea, coffee and biscuits in the room, and it was great to have two comfy chairs to sit in. The shower was very good and the bed comfortable. When asked what we would like for breakfast (there was no printed menu), I requested fresh fruit and plain yogurt and this was provided on both mornings, bought specially for me I believe, which was very thoughtful. (Breakfast was served in the owner's kitchen). I also had scrambled eggs on toast, expertly cooked and presented.

− As the name suggests, this is a room in the owners' garden. Unlike the other three places we stayed at during our trip, this one felt as though having paying guests was a bit of an afterthought, secondary to the hosts' own use of their property. Unfortunately, their dog woke me up on three occasions, barking right outside our open window. We were weary after travelling and attending a wedding, and we needed to catch up on sleep, but the dog barked outside our room at 9.10 pm after we'd retired to bed. And again, the dog awoke us at 7.15 the next morning, and the following afternoon when I was trying to have a nap. The room was well equipped but with too many items of furniture, so that our luggage had to go in front of the little wardrobe, blocking access to it.
