10.0It's not often one can stay in a property conspicuously mentioned in a culturally significant book, but "The American" (l'americano) is a character mentioned in Carlo Levi's masterpiece, "Christ Stopped at Eboli." The American was a native of Aliano who worked in the USA, returning with savings, and built this property in the 1930s. There's a remarkable restaurant in the building too. Great food. It's about 45 minutes to Craco, worth the trip. And the same to Pisticci Scalo to visit the Amaro Lucano museum.

− Das Zimmer war sehr kühl. Es gab einen Kälteinbruch mit starkem Wind, das Zimmer war ausgekühlt und die Heizung konnte nicht ganz mithalten. Das Duschwasser wechselte dauernd in Wellen zwischen heiss und kalt. Das Frühstück in einer netten Bäckerei bestand nur aus einem einzigen Kaffee und einem Cornetto.

7.0Location was good. The restaurant in the hotel was excellent.
− It was difficult communicating with the hotel manager. He did not seem to be a people person or into customer service, but in the end was helpful.
