9.0The hosts were very welcoming and friendly, the room and accommodation very warm and comfortable and the breakfast the next morning plentiful. Would definitely recommend a stay here, the views from the room and spa are something special too.
Friendly host, stunning views
10.0We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the warm hospitality of Martin and Verity. The three course dinner and breakfast were exceptional, with Verity serving wild mussels for our entrée, freshly gathered from the shoreline right in front of their property. We were given multiple options for breakfast ranging from a full English to poached eggs on toast. We also loved the fresh air and stunning views. Bed was comfortable. The easiest route here from Christchurch is via Lyttelton along a fully paved road. While Google Maps may suggest taking Pigeon Bay Road from Akaroa, keep in mind that about halfway in, it becomes a narrow, winding gravel track, only wide enough for a single vehicle. The scenery on this route is stunning, but the route isn’t ideal for those with vertigo or less confident behind the wheel, and it’s best attempted in daylight.
