Spektakuläres Hotel mit leider sehr viel Luft nach oben!

Das Positive vorweg: Das Hotel selbst ist spektakulär — die Lage direkt am Meer, die wunderschönen Zimmer, die Rezeption im 7. Stock mit der Bar, dem Pool und dem Ausblick über den Golf. Es kommt aber dem ersten Moment Ferienstimmung auf. Die Zimmer sind hervorragend, die Betten bequem, die Lounge gemütlich und das Badezimmer riesig. Das Hotel liegt direkt am Meer, direkt gegenüber befindet sich der schneeweisse Sandstrand von Clearwater. In der Umgebung sind zahlreiche Bars, Pubs, Restaurants, Cafés und Einkaufsmöglichkeiten. Der Vibe ist toll, die Grösse des Hotels wirklich gut (im Gegensatz zu den riesigen Hotelbunkern in der Umgebung) und besonders der Pool mit Blick über das Meer ist einfach gigantisch.

− Es gibt aber leider einige Kritikpunkte, die auch explizit so bereits während des Aufenthalts beim Personal platziert wurden und gegen die trotz der Hinweise aus unserer Sicht nicht genug gemacht wurde. Punkt 1: Sauberkeit auf der Terrasse. Unsere Terrasse war leider wirklich schmutzig, es fiel (trotz explizitem Rauchverbot!!) immer wieder Asche herab, dazu „regnete“ es dann am zweiten Tag auch einmal Popcorn und als Höhepunkt fanden wir einen künstlichen Fingernagel. Punkt 2: Wir wurden sowohl beim Check-In als auch durch schriftliche Hinweise im Zimmer auf das Rauchverbot aufmerksam gemacht, welches auch ganz explizit auf dem Balkon gilt. Den Personen über uns war dies offensichtlich egal, denn es stank immer wieder nach Rauch und es fiel auch immer wieder Asche zu uns herunter. Wir reklamierten dies umgehend beim Personal, aber ausser ein „Sorry“ passierte aus unserer Sicht nicht viel, da kurz darauf gleich wieder geraucht wurde. Punkt 3: Verhalten der Angestellten. Das ist auch unser grösster Kritikpunkt. Wir sprachen die Zustände bereits während unseres Aufenthalts an, wobei wir keine Besserung feststellen konnten. Auf die Frage des General Managers beim Check-Out, ob wir einen guten Aufenthalt gehabt hatten, brachte ich im Rahmen eines konstruktiven Feedbacks die Punkte mit der Sauberkeit und dem Rauchen an, worauf mit Gleichmut reagiert wurde. Der General Manager stellte dann fest, dass ich bei Booking gemäss meines Statuses zu den „Top Customers“ zählte, da mir der Status ein kostenfreies Upgrade auf eine Suite mit Meerblick gegeben hatte. Und er fügte dann noch hinzu, wenn mich herabfallende Asche und Popcorn störe, solle ich das nächste Mal doch ein Zimmer in der obersten Etage buchen. Mein Kollege und ich schauten uns wirklich entsetzt an und waren etwas verblüfft über eine solche Antwort.

Small improvements and considerations needed

Location, across the street from beach, walking distance to cafes, eateries, part of beach with good vibes. Boutique hotel, 88 rooms. Comfortable cafe/balcony view, bar at pool TV in both parts of bedroom ie where sofa too. Availability of towls.

− Really limited a la carte breakfast menu, even more so for kids, three choices. French toast, was one slice of bread. . Inflexible, eg printout given said pancakes but when seated, only French toast. Issue between Booking.com and Hotel where my 16year cost same whether child or adult re room booking and inclusive breakfast but Hiatus only offered a child (ie what you would give a 5/10 year old) and inflexible to change unless we paid extra. Service very slow on balcony cafe or inside even though no more than ten/15 customers at one time if that. Orders mis-heard and had to be changed. Swimming pool tiny and seemed over crowded with non hotel guests on July 4th. No concession if you go on beach to hire sun shade and loungers, Usd 50 until 5pm or in our case USD 80 as we had a double lounger since all places with two sun loungers were taken. There is no ' on the beach' cafe for lunch so you bring your own or walk to nearest eaterie. Car parking by valet service small forecourt so a couple times you have to hover in line if several cars waiting to release their car for parking. Our luggage arrived two days late, we requested toothbrushes and were asked to pay for them so I ended up buying some essentials from nearby Walgreens. Under circumstances, I thought some customer consideration would have gone a long way. We were at the hotel for five nights. We had a double queen room with sofa bed. The sofa bed we were told we had to make up ourselves day one on arrival in evening when I called for house keeping. The quality of sofa bed not great, matress thin, might need replacing.
