Casa da Praia - Beachfront Private Pool♡

The pool was unsuitable for use and roadworks restricted access to the house - very disappointing.

The house is in a beautiful setting with stunning views over the ocean. The kitchen is very well equipped and the living area is comfortable and spacious. The bedrooms are compact, but are clean and there's good storage in two of rooms.

− The pool was very dirty (dead gecko, frogs, full of insects) and was not suitable for use. Given the rural setting we would expect some light debris, but it was evident that it had not been cleaned for some time and also needs maintenance work (broken tiles etc). The steps to access the pool are very steep, there is no handrail and need repair work. It was explained to us that they are in the process of being replaced, but in their current state they are not safe or suitable for use. The pool was one of the main attractions of the property and that is reflected in the pricing, but because of the poor access and the unclean water we were not able to use it all. I requested compensation for this issue but disappointingly the owner felt that the pool was 'suitable for use throughout our stay'. The main road to access the house is also currently closed to vehicles Mon - Fri 9-5pm due to roadworks. This limited access was a huge restriction for us and severely impacted our stay. The walk to where we had to park the car is about 7 mins down a steep dirt track, which was very inconvenient but manageable (with beach bags and a toddler!) but the older members of the group could not manage the steep walk back up the track, so we could not return to the house until after 5pm each day. This also meant that we had to have the car packed up and loaded before 9am (even though checkout is not until 11am) otherwise all bags would need to be carried down the hill (wheels would not work on the dust track). Fortunately we did not arrive until after 5pm, but you would face the same issue otherwise. There is heavy machinery operating meters away from the house and the noise is on/off throughout the day. Although the roadworks are not in control of the owners, the house should not be rented at full price whilst the access is so restricted and disruptive.

Amazing house!

The view was amazing! The garden was amazing, would have been fantastic if it was updated a bit. Kitchen is well equipped, and the living area is very comfortable!

− The last steps to the pool part of the garden where dangerous and need an upgrade. Also it would have been nice to have a comfortable lounge chair in the top part of the garden. The garden table and chairs are also quite outdated and need an upgrade. The beds of the 2 smaller rooms were cardboard. I had almost no sleep because it was so hard and outdated. Please upgrade the mattresses of these two rooms.

Excellent Villa with sea views

Fantastic views. Easy walking access to Praia Grande and three excellent fish restaurants. Immediately on lovely cliff walks to Cabo da Roca. Good swimming pool and house is very nice and spacious. Miguel is a very helpful host.

− Minor faults. Garden steps down to the pool are unstable and need attention. Only three tea mugs. Otherwise the kitchen is very well equipped.
