Had we had hot water and the cottage had been properly cleaned it would have been a pleasant stay

− Not been cleaned, filthy bathroom floor, hole in sink due to missing stopper, shower leaked, damp smell in bathroom, no towel rails anyway to dry towels inside, no shower mat, no tea towel provided, no hot water or heating available first night and following morning as the owner failed to change the gas canister, bathroom door no lock or latch and did not even close, dusty and musty smell in living and bedroom, cobwebs spotted in all rooms, human hair left in shower cubicle and bath not cleaned properly from previous guests, bedding smelt musty and nothing matched, dead insects found by skirting board near unit by bed and behind bed head, no blind or curtains at kitchen window, no cleaning bottles provided, I had to purchase and the owner had the audacity to charge £12 for a cleaning fee Outside rusting patio furniture, dead plants in pots outside. A tidy up is due. No attention to detail. Owner accused us of planning complaint just to get a free stay which is a false accusation and defamation of my character. Despite my valid issues especially photographs of months old hair and gunk found in shower drain and he was at fault for not ensuring hot water and heating was available prior to our arrival he has utterly refused to provide a refund. He insists the place was “spotless” and personally checked by him when the cleaners finished. It was not by the way. The accommodation does not justify the tariff charged per night. Oh yes and there are two abandoned cars rusting in the orchard area which is not a good look and spoils what is a nice view from the bedroom. Oh and tge windows needed cleaning. n

A pleasant cottage, but there is no access to back garden as 2 very large dogs were there. They also scratch / jump at the back door (in lounge) in the middle of the night! Front garden not as pretty as picture with some dog mess and dogs watching through gate. Lastly boiler is in bedroom so you can hear when it comes on.

The location was pretty and lovely surroundings

− Dirty in places The shelves in the shower are rusty Plant pots full of dead plants The decor is tired We wanted to light the fire there was no kindling, matches or fire lighters

Disgusting, would have been nice if owner had responded to our comments.

− The property had not been cleaned for a long time. Thick dust everywhere. Dirty panty liner in basket. Dirty sheets. Blood on pillow case. Plug in bathroom would not work.

Very nice stay for our overnight rest from the Hadrian's Wall Path.

My father in law owned the property in the sixties, seventies and eighties. I worked the garden.

− Greeted like a trespasser. Had to provide proof of identity. Dogs barking at me. Place was unprepared and was told to go away because it had to be cleaned and they were not prepared.
