Left in the Dark—Literally and Figuratively

− We weren’t expecting a grand or luxurious welcome upon arrival, but we did hope for basic courtesy and comfort. Unfortunately, we were disappointed from the very beginning. When we arrived, there was no one at the reception area—just an old, worn-out table at the foot of the stairs. Eventually, someone came and led us to our room, quickly turned on the air-conditioning, and simply said, “This is your room.” What followed was even more disheartening. The room had no towels or toiletries, which was surprising considering the rate we paid. For the same price, many 3- to 4-star hotels in Manila offer more amenities—some even with breakfast buffets. During our two-night stay, there were power outages (which we later learned are quite common in the area). Sadly, Jamjen’s Lodge didn’t have a generator, while other nearby lodges did. There were no updates, no assistance, and no efforts to keep guests informed during the blackout. We were left in the dark—literally and figuratively. Overall, our experience was not worth what we paid for. We were hoping for a relaxing and comfortable stay, but instead left feeling let down. We hope the management takes these concerns seriously and works on improving the service and facilities.
