Peaceful escape while still being close enough to town.
9.0We booked this stay as a little birthday getaway for my husband’s birthday. We booked the 2 bedroom 1 bath bungalow with a hot tub. We have 3 kids (a 7 year old, 2 year old and 6 month old) so we weren’t really sure how it was going to play out. When we arrived the actual check in building was closed, but they had a sign saying to just pull up to the security gate and they would get you checked in. All the security we encountered at our stay were very nice. The campground has gem mining, an escape room, multiple pools, multiple playgrounds, multiple different sports courts. When we booked our house, I wasn’t aware the only options for a house with a hottub are down a very big flight of stairs the only reason I had suspected that was through the pictures. That wasn’t a dealbreaker for us whatsoever but just thought I would put that in the review for anyone who maybe isn’t able to go up and down that many stairs. The cabin itself I felt was fairly spacious, especially for having a family of 5 in it. There was 2 bedrooms and a pullout couch, entire kitchen setup and dining table. As far as things I would recommend, bring your own pillows and toilet paper. They provide them but they aren’t the best. We were 45 minutes to kings dominion and even less to the national museum of the marine corps. Overall this was an amazing trip, and we are already planning to come back for our wedding anniversary so we can enjoy all the amenities child free. Also minutes from multiple historic battlefields

4.0− My cottage smelled like Marijuana, some of the blinds were missing on the door, and the dishes were dirty but put away. Cottage was very hot and both bedrooms never cooled off until about 10pm.
