Best accommodation ever, stay here if you're looking in Tarapoto!
10.0M&K House was the best accommodation I've ever stayed at, in Peru or otherwise. The hosts Marlon and Karina (M&K!) were so incredibly kind, generous, and caring. They drove us to their home and offered to take us to the market whenever we needed and even pick things up for us. They have a full kitchen which they are more than happy to share, including ample fridge space, a blender, gas stove, and endless fresh water to drink. They make incredible breakfasts that are included with the stay, at whatever time is requested! Always something new, fresh blended fruit juice, tea, coffee, cacao, eggs, cheese, olives, warm bread, and even custom-made gluten free bread for my partner!
The location is amazing, just outside of the city on a low-traffic dirt road so it's very quiet. We originally stayed in the city and the noise was overwhelming - in contrast, M&K house is so peaceful and such an amazing getaway and home base. It's close enough to easily make trips into the city, and close to the main road which connects to many amazing waterfalls, so we were able to go on daily adventures out into nature.
There are two amazing dogs, Whisky and Bellota, in the house which really add to the charm. The house itself is quite new, very clean, well-kept, decorated, and very comfortable. The common spaces, including the outdoor garden, are lovely to spend time in. In the mornings, there is often peaceful music playing in the main living space. Karina takes such amazing care of the place, regular house-keeping, with fresh sheets, soap, etc. Marlon gave us so many great recommendations of places to visit over our time there.
Originally we were only going to stay for 5 days, but we extended by another two weeks largely because of how great M&K House was, and because there is so much incredible nature to explore nearby!
If you're looking for somewhere to stay in or near Tarapoto, just book this place, you won't regret it!
− I honestly can't think of much to say here. The water pressure was perhaps a little on the low side at times, and there was a bit of construction nearby, but that's unavoidable and temporary. And they even offered us a different room with less noise when that became an issue!
