Oda temiz güzel büyük ferah, yatak rahat.

− Kahvaltı güzel değil. Oda da buzdolabı yok. Klima koku yapıyordu. Banyoda duş alıyorsunuz banyo komple su içinde kalıyor. Fiyatına göre beklentilerimi karşılamadı.

Smell doesn't cover up smell

The hotel is in a good location if you want to avoid the centre of Sofia and continue your journey the next morning. It is very convenient to get to the highways bypassing Sofia without any major city traffic jams. The breakfast was ok. For a Balkan hotel, vegetarians were also taken into account. We were able to eat just as much as we needed, but I can imagine that some hotel guests might need a bit more variety in this regard.

− We travel frequently and spend long periods of time in hotels in different countries every year. I can recall only one comparable accommodation experience, approximately 20 years ago, which unfortunately says a great deal about how exceptional this stay was. There was an extremely strong smell of synthetic cleaning product or air freshener in the room. It was so overpowering and unpleasant that we could not avoid the impression that it had been used to conceal another odour that had become deeply embedded in the room, the bed or the textiles. We had to leave the room while we aired it out. After ventilation, the chemical smell became slightly less intense, but it did not disappear. Keeping the window open was not a realistic option, however, as the hotel is located directly beside one of the main roads leading into Sofia and a metro railway line. The noise entering through the open window made staying and sleeping in the room practically impossible. The exceptionally strong chemical smell also raised genuine concerns about what substances had been used in the room and in what quantities. It reminded me of a shocking news report published late last year concerning a fatal poisoning incident at a hotel in Istanbul, where pesticides used in the hotel were suspected of having caused extremely serious consequences: https://apnews.com/article/turkey-germany-family-poisoned-pesticide-hotel-istanbul-4a67d75a323fa3e9833c568a46af292d I am, of course, not claiming that the same substances or circumstances were involved at this hotel. However, when a hotel room contains such a strong and unusual chemical smell, this kind of association is inevitable, and the concern experienced by the guest is entirely understandable. I woke up in the morning with a nosebleed. My wife coughed throughout the night, and her breathing was at times laboured.
