Apartment very homely but not a nice location

The apartment was clean and tidy Equipped with everything you would need for your stay. Very comfy beds The host was very helpful The bus stop was right outside handy for direct route to underground train into city

− The stairs at the entrance of the apartment were grubby and quite dangerous as the carpet lifted up and I tripped on it a couple of times. Wasn’t expecting to have to pay quite a bit extra to receive the code for the front door. Also, breakfast provided needs to be clearer as it was just a frozen box of pancakes and syrup. Broken sleep on a few nights as on a busy road and on an evening till late where groups of people meeting up with blaring music coming from their cars and fire bangers being let off at one and 2 o’clock in the morning on several occasions. Very intimidating wouldn’t go out of the apartment at night. The apartment was really good if only could pick it up and put it in a nice location.

Good owner but average property

The owner Luca was very friendly and responsive throughout the stay. He kept asking if something needed to be delivered. It was assured that he is taking care of us. The equipments like the AC, washer, dryer and dishwasher worked as expected without any trouble. The home was neat and clean.

− Firstly, what put me off was they maintain a different portal/website to share the door code. Before check in you need to verify yourself my giving some information and then do a payment there as well. There were two options: 1. Pay a $40 non-refundable amount or 2. Pay $500 refundable deposit. Only if you complete this step you will get a door lock code. I tried the $500 refundable option first and my CC was blocked due to suspicious activity by "ServiceJCY". I thought I was scammed. But later I had to call my bank and get my card activated again. Later, I decided to go with $40 non-refundable amount. This was never mentioned while booking through this booking.com. We were a family of 5. Two aged adults and a toddler. We came to know that this is a property on 3rd floor only when we arrived. The stairs are very narrow and we had a hard time climbing up and down. When I asked about this to Luca he mentioned that this was already mentioned. If you are booking this property, make sure to read carefully. If you are a tourist and want to visit the Manhattan area on a daily basis, this location can be a bit inconvenient. Though the bus stop is right in front of the home, it is still a pain to catch the bus, change to path and then take a subway. You will be tired before you even reach the destination. The garbage bins were always overflowing. Very noisy at night as this is on the main road itself.
