Jena central
4.0Centrally placed
− Bleak flat with a broken curtain rail and three mugs. Somewhat noisy location. No wi fi when we arrived although this was sorted out the following morning. Expensive given its limitations
Good
7.0The location was great for public transportation and close to restaurants. The manager was in constant contact, check in/ out was very easy.
− A few things, first the room temperature was a bit warm in the evenings with the windows open due to no AC. I understand this is Europe and AC isn’t as predominant like it is in the USA. Second, elevators. A lot of smaller multi floor building don’t have them and carrying luggage up 3 flights is always fun. This is not the properties fault, it just something I alway see when visiting Europe. Third, the WiFi; it was poor at best. This was the biggest issue for me. I need to use it for work and it would either be extremely slow or completely turn off. Hint, log onto the Ebis Hotel account that’s next door, it’s free and much better. Finally, price. I stayed at the Scala Hotel the week before at a price of $125/ night including breakfast. The price per night here came out to $185. So all in all , the if you compare the two, I think it was a bit overpriced.
Bad
1.0− Unfortunately it had not been cleaned so we had to pay short notice premium and stay in nearby Ibis. Really disappointed as arrived at 9.30pm, tired and hungry, so didn't want to have to sort alternative accommodation at that time, but no-one answered the phone, texts or emails until the morning after.
It was ok
5.0The location was good. The small kitchen was very useful to prepare some food
− The bed was not comfortable. I slept in the couch which was too small. The neighbor downstairs was constantly complaining that she can hear me walk upstairs and I was not wearing shoes or anything. The building was an old building, cute but the wooden stairs and floors would crack with every step. It was too hot during the day and in the night pretty loud to leave the window open.
Match my expectation!
10.0Next to the downtown area and it is convenient; The bed is large and comfortable; The kitchen has full of facilities to make meals
− The wooden floor is not sound-proof, and the stair to the apartment is not firm especially when you carry a heavy suitcase.
