never got to stay - completely disorganized

Canceled reservation the night before saying that it was never confirmed. I had two messages out to him asking questions then gave me some snark. Pretty poor performance from my point of view.

− My stay was cancelled by the owner, but I was never notified. He said in an email that he did not charge me, but I think that Bookinhg.com did bill me, so this needs to be resolved. My reservation on booking.com said nothing about it being cancelled and I only learned about it when I tried to notify the property owner that I would be arriving a day later than planned (I didn't request any change to my booking cost dud to that fact). After my attempt to contact the owner that is when he replied that he had cancelled the reservation because I had not contacted him. My reservation didn't require me to contact him and in fact noted that it was not available to cancel after a certain date which had already passed!!

− I never got to stay at the property because the day before my stay the host tried to make me pay extra cleaning fees that were not included in the original price. I tried to get the to see my perspective on why it wasn’t fair for me to pay that but they still tried to make me pay. Also I couldn’t cancel the reservation for free because it was the day before my booking when they said this.
