Pleasant break in country setting, but with a number of frustrations

5.0

Good location ( although on a public footpath). Spacious open plan living area.

Could have been cleaner on arrival. We washed and dried all crockery items and cooking utensils prior to use. A number of items were defective/ required fixing. oven temperature knob, lights flickering, blinds did not function ( unable to pull up and down) we pegged them up with clothes pegs! outside furniture overgrown with weeds. Shower ( downstairs) wooden slatted tray was broken ( one slat missing) making it wobbly and potentially dangerous. We found it very unstable. The downstairs duvet was soiled. There was no useable WIFI- The login instructions left in the welcome book didn’t’ work. The property is situated on public footpath, with people walking immediately in front of the patio window. The towels were very hard and crispy! There was a lack of parking spaces, for neighbours and ourselves. We had 2 cars and every day we were blocked in by other people's cars. Fortunately we had met the neighbours, who were able to move their cars when we wanted to go out, without us having too long to wait. For us personally the mattress in the upper bedroom was not really optimal in terms of comfort We didn't see the owner. She did say she would pop in to check everything was OK. However she didn't visit. We asked for a cot, which was left in a box, for us to erect. The postcode given to locate the property took us to the house next door. The lady there was helpful and mentioned that she meets people around once a week, with the same issue.
