− The bed
Compact well positioned but no emphasis on basic housekeeping
5.0Location was fine.
− Cost of cleaning was a highlited compulsory cost .The accommodation was in a very poor state of housekeeping when we took occupancy. Food stains on the wall, crumbs on the windowlege .The toaster was greasy and full of burnt crumbs and the kettle required a good clean.Cobwebs in the corners of the ceiling and dead insects on the floor and hanging from the ceiling. The cleanliness of the bed was also in question as this visit made by us was in mid July and there was still an electric under blanket on the bed.When was this last looked at? Could not recommend this property based purely on its cleanliness.Obviously no checklist is used prior to new guests arriving to check on basic cleanliness of the property.We do have photographic evidence.We begrudge paying a cleaning fee for a property that wasn't clean when we arrived and should be clean wether we paid a fee or not.In reality we paid for something that the next guest would benefit from if the fee was genuinely used for cleaning.Which it hadn't been for our visit.
Lovely cottage, but wifi needs some attention
7.0The cottage was lovely, with an outside garden area too. Well-equipped kitchen. The Apex team was very responsive to any problems we had. Good off-street parking space.
− The wifi was unfortunately unusable with no connection throughout our stay. This was very inconvenient throughout our stay, especially as we had to work some days. Whilst we did appreciate the efforts of the Apex team to fix this, ultimately it was not possible. We ended up having to use our own e-sim connection (at our own cost), or connecting to the main house wifi which only worked outside of the cottage.
