− What a disappointment, first, while we were informed that some facilities were not yet available (gym, spa) but, we did not expect to spend any part of our vacation in the middle of a construction site (and not a very well organised one). It must be difficult to manage, simultaneously, a construction effort and operating a resort. But, if the owners made that choice, they must, at least make a conscious effort to impact the guests as little. As possible. But that is not the most troublesome. In every aspect, one can notice the lack of attention to details, in areas which would impact comfort and wellbeing of the guests. A few examples : At the swimming pool, only one shower,, difficult to access behind a bush, no washbasin for feet when coming from the beach. The pool itself, is not. An “infinity pool”, in the evening, when the guests congregate around and in the pool, there are insects, leaves, floating, trapped; not a pleasant feeling. At the restaurant, no handwashing basin, In front of the rooms no area to brush or wash shoes and feet (we arrived just after some rain, we had to leave some traces of mud inside the room). In the room, there is a safe in the room, but it is not bolted (is this a joke ?)… the curtains railing is not smooth at all, we could neither open nor close the curtains completely. All this smells of cheap design, cheap engineering and cheap contracting. But the worse is the clients facing personnel. Ranging from mediocre to outright terrible. Some staff at reception have nothing to do at a front desk (You never have a second chance to make a good first impression).. Giving only one single key to a couple checking in, then, when I went back to the reception, the staff gave me a second key… which did not function… back to the reception again ! During our first dinner, the service was totally disorganised, bringing dishes to the wrong table… bringing the wrong dish…

We absolutely loved our stay at ARYA. The staff are all wonderful and made the whole trip so enjoyable. Special mention to Apri who looked after us at the amazing breakfast every morning. The menu is outstanding .. we loved every meal! Also to Mus Mulyadi who arranged a last minute horse ride for me.. nothing is too much trouble for him, and everything is done with a smile. And lastly to Arpan who drove us to Ratenggaro traditional village and guided us around, explaining lots of interesting details along the way. He has the best smile at ARYA too 😀 As a family of 4 (with 2 older kids) we stayed in 2 of the villas with a private pool which were just perfect. Very clean with daily servicing and nightly turn down. Water replenished regularly. The decor throughout the whole resort is just beautiful, very tasteful and photogenic 😍 Although the resort is still under construction we would never have known.. no noise or building works are evident throughout. Well done on this guys!

− Tiny detail.. a full length mirror would be nice in the rooms.. at present there is only the one mirror at the bathroom sink. It will be fabulous when the spa is completed .. a nice massage would have complemented our stay.. but we know this is coming soon.
