Enjoyable but overpriced

That the apartment is spacious and there are two parking bays. The view over the pond when sitting on the veranda. Very secure estate. The hot tub in the bedroom was nice.

− The security checks when we entered and left the complex. We were unable to register our biometrics thus had to use visitors' codes and scan driver's license each time we went through security. The machine was out of order. We had a busy schedule and could not go back often to check the machine. No DSTV nor a way to enter your own log in detail, the TV does not support dstv stream. It is soccer world cup with no way of watching. For a luxury apartment the kitchen utensils are a bit under stocked. Underfloor heating locked by owner - it was winter in Paarl. I just feel that only the estate is luxury but not the apartment. The apartment is also getting a bit tired. Maybe my expectations of luxury were too high.

Het resort ligt op een gunstige en goed bereikbare locatie tussen Paarl, Franschhoek en Stellenbosch. Dankzij de hekken en de goed bewaakte toegangspoort met beveiliging voelt het resort bovendien erg veilig aan.

− Wij hebben deze accommodatie geboekt mede omdat er een zwembad aanwezig was. Bij aankomst bleek echter dat het zwembad gesloten was vanwege een grote verbouwing van het clubhuis. Dit stond nergens duidelijk vermeld voorafgaand aan de boeking. Achteraf kregen wij te horen van de host dat er alleen een algemene melding wordt geplaatst omdat men geen exacte data ontvangt over onderhoud of werkzaamheden. Dat vinden wij niet acceptabel. Een zwembad dat gesloten is in de winter zou nog begrijpelijk zijn, maar hier was geen sprake van winterse sluiting. Het zwembad was dicht vanwege renovaties en ging bovendien alweer open een week na ons verblijf. Wanneer een accommodatie expliciet wordt aangeboden met zwembad, mag je als gast verwachten dat deze faciliteit beschikbaar is. Dat was voor ons ook een belangrijke reden om juist deze accommodatie te kiezen. Wij vinden het niet de verantwoordelijkheid van de huurder om zelf uit te zoeken of essentiële voorzieningen daadwerkelijk beschikbaar zijn, zeker niet wanneer hierover geen duidelijke en concrete informatie wordt gegeven in de advertentie. Hierdoor voelde de advertentie voor ons misleidend en voldeed het verblijf niet aan de verwachtingen die vooraf zijn gewekt.

Location was great with restaurants within the community which meant no need to come out. Great for kids too as there were multiple parks for them to play in

− Overall the location and house was great though the house is getting a bit tired and should be renovated/made more modern. Other than that and if this doesn't bother you then I would highly recommend!

Val de Vie is just a special place. Everyone is very friendly. The estate is really beautiful! We loved the townhouse! It had everything that we needed! Adri is very responsive and answered all of our questions for our stay!
